Play Snake with the rules at hand
Snake gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Keep collecting apples. Hitting a wall or your body ends the round; filling the entire board wins. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Look at what changes after your first action.
Bring this focus to a round
Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Make the next step deliberately.
What you are aiming for
Keep collecting apples. Hitting a wall or your body ends the round; filling the entire board wins. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Keep the controls in easy reach.
Work through the instructions
- Press Play to start the movement.
- Turn with arrow keys, swipes or the on-screen direction buttons.
- Each apple adds ten points and makes the snake longer.
- Pause when needed or start a new round.
Choosing and moving on screen
Keyboard arrows, swipe gestures or the four direction buttons. Play / pause controls the movement. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.
See how the rules apply
When moving right, you may turn up or down, but cannot turn immediately left into your own neck. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Take a moment to compare.
A mistake to avoid
The snake continues moving between inputs. Plan a route with space to turn. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
